Patch 1.7/2.2 PDF Print

It's now available a new patch that updates the game to version 1.7/2.2, fixing the error while saving due to the previous patch (1.5/1.6), that is, Error 16 we've been discussing since yesterday.

Although this issue has been fixed, we strongly suggest you to follow the indications stated below, as you might always experience issues of any kind.
  • Make a back-up copy of your game data and custom content before installing the patch.
  • Before installing the game update, remove all the default replacement files (including the censorship remover file, that must be replaced with the original file. If you don't have a backup copy of the original file, search for it in the DVD and copy it in the appropriate folder)
  • To check if everything is working fine, we suggest you to launch the game without custom content. Then, try to load it little by little, so that you can easily find any possible incompatible file. Remember this patch brings noticeable changes and old file may not work anymore.
Moreover, when you launch the game for the first time, use the Save as option anyway, then try to save normally so that you won't lose your family if there's a mistake or a game crash.

If you're thinking about waiting for the expansion pack without installing the patch, we suppose (and other forums confirm that) that by installing the EP the game will be patched anyway. Just like it happened when installing an expansions pack for The Sims 2 and the patches were automatically installed. Thus, waiting for the expansion won't solve the problem. If you try it now, you'll have more time to test the game and solve any eventual issue (and you won't get mad if you cannot play with the game!).
